OSSO recommends that all coaches participate in coach training and certification regardless of age group. Coaches of teams qualifying for the District Tournament must be licensed by MSA. To acquire a Coaching License, find the required coaching certification courses at: https://ssl.hammersoccer.com/mscoaching/coachcourses.asp.
For coaching certification candidates who have already taken the online portion of the certification, you may locate and register for a field session at http://ssl.hammersoccer.com/mscoaching/FieldSessions.asp.
1. Both teams and coaches are to occupy one side of the field while all parents and other spectators must remain on the other side of the field during games.
2. Coaches must accurately prepare and completely fill out a game card for each game. Fill out all fields including jersey numbers, names, mark the quarters played, game time, field, and opposing team.
3. Assistant Referees (AR or linesman) will check-in players and verify the info against the game cards at the beginning of each quarter. Have the players who will be playing in the quarter line up on the sideline and the AR will verify the players against the game card information and return the card to the coach. At the end of the game, submit the completed game card to the Referee.
4. Rain-out policy - All games are played as scheduled unless OSSO contacts coaches and parents to notify them of cancellations.
5. Medals - OSSO will provide participation medals to the coach of each team on the final day of play for each age group.
6. The U10 and U12 teams will compete in the OSSO Tournament in March 2010. Tournament format, schedule, and other details will be determined by the OSSO Tournament Committee and communicated to coaches at a coaches meeting prior to the OSSO Tournament. The top two teams in each age group and gender determined as a result of the tournament will represent OSSO at the Southern District Tournament in April 2010.
