Mission Statement and Participation Agreement

OUR GOAL: To bring a higher level of soccer training to the youth of the Ocean Springs area, to place player development above all club or team-oriented goals, and to offer the player the opportunity to be better prepared for their future soccer opportunities.

WHY DO WE COACH? For the love of the game. Each of us has a special place in our hearts for the development and involvement of our youth.

WHAT DO WE ENJOY MOST ABOUT COACHING? Helping players develop new skills and tactically understand of the game, improving individuals, and overall team performance.

WHAT DO WE ENJOY LEAST ABOUT COACHING? The perception that wins and losses, not player development, are often the measures of a coach as being successful or unsuccessful.

WHAT IS OUR COACHING STYLE? The game is the true teacher. We will make every effort to help players by emphasizing situations that will enable them to better understand the game. We will strive to be positive at all times. It is necessary for coaches to communicate with players at practices and at games.

WHAT ARE OUR COACHING QUALIFICATIONS? All coaches are selected based on their willingness to develop players and willingness to continue their personal coaching education process. And to dedicate the many hours that it will take to reach our goals.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM THE COACHES? Coaches will: Be punctual for games and practices, strive to conduct themselves in a professional manner on and off the field, and place the welfare of the player above any team-oriented goals. Coaches will provide a written assessment of each player at mid-season and at season end.

WHAT DO WE EXPECT FROM THE PLAYERS? We expect each player to commit his or herself to a learning environment. Players are to be respectful to their teammates, fellow players, coaches, and referees. Players need not only to attend, but be on time for practices and games.

WHAT DO WE EXPECT FROM THE PARENTS? Support and encourage their child and his or her team. Never address or be abusive to the referees or anyone else. Parents are to be positive and supportive of the players, teammates and coaches. NEVER COACH FROM THE SIDELINE.

HOW DO WE HANDLE PLAYING TIME? Playing time will be determined by the coaches based on their assessment of players skill level and ability. Playing time is solely at the discretion of the coach. Coaches are not to take any calls at their residencesor workplace concerning playing time, nor will it be discussed with parents before or after games or practices. Every rostered player will participate in games, with the exception of injured or disciplined players.
