Training

This page is used to identify training opportunities for players, coaches, and referees. As new items are added they will be placed at the top of the page.

As we try to increase the caliber of our players we strive to provide them with opportunities to learn from coaches and trainers from across the state and country. These are great places to meet others who love soccer and enjoy sharing their experience with others so that their skill level increases.

Coaching Certification

OSSO recommends that all coaches participate in coach training and certification regardless of age group.  Coaches of teams qualifying for the District Tournament must be licensed by MSA. To acquire a Coaching License, find the required coaching certification courses at: https://ssl.hammersoccer.com/mscoaching/coachcourses.asp.

For coaching certification candidates who have already taken the online portion of the certification, you may locate and register for a field session at http://ssl.hammersoccer.com/mscoaching/FieldSessions.asp.

Referee Certification

2010 Referee Recertification Clinics Announced

Each District will host recertification clinics for the Grade 8 and 9 referees. Bridge courses for Grade 9 referees who wish to upgrade to Grade 8 will be held as well. A schedule of those will be announced on the web site under the "Scheduled MSA Referee Courses" link and will be periodically updated as more are scheduled. Although this could change, tentative state sponsored locations are Tupelo, Desoto County, Starkville, Meridian, Brandon, Florence, Clinton, Greenwood, Vicksburg, Hattiesburg, Biloxi, and Pascagoula. Other district and organization sponsored clinics will be held as well. Make sure you check the referee course link regularly as you look for a clinic in your area.

You should be receiving a letter from USSF, which has your registration information on it. Bring that letter to the recertification clinic you choose to attend this year.

If you have any questions regarding these events please do not hesitate to call Tim Clements MSA SRA at 901-219-3341 or e-mail to sra@mississippisoccer.org or Kevin McClure, SDI at 601-672-9885 or e-mail to sdi@mississippisoccer.org.
